Senior Research & Data Analyst

We are currently looking for a Senior Research & Data Analyst to join our not-for-profit Community Interest Company, working as part of the iESE Group across the UK to deliver change and innovation to local government and the wider public sector. 

The role will focus on the development of the CareCubed product offering, the leading cost of care benchmarking solution, that offers transparency and insight into the cost and quality of care to local government and care providers alike.

 The role 

The senior research and data analyst plays a central role working as part of a small agile team, in the delivery of evidence-based, research and analysis; data and analytics being core to our existing suite of products and new developments we are working on.  

In this role you will have the autonomy to drive meaningful insight through both primary and secondary research, working with a range of data partners and stakeholders across the public sector to product high quality research and statistical models. You will play a key role in shaping the long-term product vision and instrumental in supporting the public sector strategically, through the production of high-quality research and data.   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Support the product team to produce annual iterations of the CareCubed data model 
  • Conduct detailed research into the costs associated with care delivery 
  • Gather and analyse primary and secondary data sources, validating this and working to improve available data, to inform costing models and strategic insights 
  • Collect and integrate publicly available data including inflation indices, regulatory fees, council spend data, and market sufficiency information 
  • Plan and execute analysis, with a focus on: 
  • regression models 
  • cluster analysis 
  • time-series analysis 
  • propensity score matching 
  • geospatial analysis 
  • Liaise with partners to collect scheduled data reports  
  • Proactively research and identify new data sources 
  • Utilise platforms to explore recruitment and market trends in the care sector 
  • Build and maintain costing and delivery models using Excel and other relevant tools 
  • Create dashboards, data visualisations and reports to present findings 
  • Deliver insights and briefings to internal stakeholders and external clients 
  • Support large-scale data exercises including cleaning, normalisation and pattern analysis 
  • Contribute to the development of national data standards around cost, need and care delivery 
  • Use data to produce insightful analysis to demonstrate iESE’s unique offer and share intelligence with stakeholders at all levels 

Essential: 

  • Educated to degree level (Mathematics/ Economics/ Statistics or similar)  
  • Experience carrying out high-quality research and data analysis 
  • Effective communicator able to confidently liaise with stakeholders and partners  
  • Excellent financial literacy and ability to understand financial concepts 
  • A self-starter able to proactively and independently manage workload  
  • Experience creating dashboards and data visualisations to present clear concise findings 
  • Advanced Excel skills & proficient in other MS-Office tools 

Desirable but not essential: 

  • Experience working with data-driven software products 
  • Understanding of local government and key policy drivers within the social care sector 
  • Understanding of the development of national data standards around cost, need and care delivery 
  • SQL skills  
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence Tools including Power BI, Tableau or similar 
  • Python, R or other data manipulation tools 
  • Data scraping and automation techniques 
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms
